Privacy Policy — Relembrando

Relembrando is an app that helps families record life stories and Letters to the Future. You record audio on the web, in the app, or through WhatsApp, and we turn those memories into a family book — ready to read and export as a digital book (PDF or EPUB).

This Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, which providers we share it with so the service can work, how long we keep it, and what your rights are. It applies to the app (iOS and Android), the web app (app.relembrando.com), capture via WhatsApp, and this website (relembrando.com).

Who is responsible

Relembrando LLC (Texas, United States) is the controller of the personal data processed in the service. For any matter relating to privacy or the exercise of your rights, reach us at contato@relembrando.com.

Data we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work:

Account data. When you create an account, we record your name, email, and profile photo. If you sign in with Google (Google Sign-In) or Apple (Sign in with Apple), we receive your name and email (and, in the case of Google, your profile photo) from the provider — and nothing beyond that. If you use WhatsApp, we also record your phone number. You may optionally provide your year of birth.
Content you create. The audio you record, the resulting transcripts and text, the photos you add, the titles, captions, and the organization of your books and stories.
Subscription data. Your plan status (active, expired, etc.), the plan type, and relevant dates. We do not store credit card data — it stays only with the payment processor.
Technical and usage data. Basic device and recording information (for example, platform and capture mode), error logs (crash reports), and usage metrics to keep the app stable and improve it.

How we use your data

Provide the service: transcribe audio, organize stories, and assemble your book.
Generate digital book exports (PDF and EPUB) and enable sharing with your family.
Authenticate your access and keep your account secure.
Process your subscription and unlock your plan's features.
Send service communications — invitations, reminders, and important notices.
Diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and improve the product.

Artificial intelligence and your audio

To transcribe your speech and organize the text into a readable narrative, we send the audio and transcripts to artificial intelligence providers that act as our processors (currently, speech-transcription services and language models from companies such as OpenAI, Google, and others). These providers process the content only to return the result to us.

Your family's audio and stories are not used to train AI models — not by us, and not by our providers.

Who we share with

We do not sell your data. We share data only with the service providers (subprocessors) needed to operate Relembrando, and only to the extent necessary:

Google / Firebase (Google Cloud). Authentication, database, file storage, hosting, server-side processing, error reporting, and part of the AI processing.
AI providers (such as OpenAI, Google, and others) for audio transcription and text formatting.
Meta (WhatsApp Cloud API). When you use WhatsApp to record or receive messages from us there.
RevenueCat and the app stores (Apple App Store and Google Play) to manage subscriptions. Card payments on the web, where available, are processed by Stripe.
Email provider (Resend) to send the service's transactional communications.

We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.

If you choose to use WhatsApp, the audio and messages you send are received through Meta's official API and processed like any other recording. Our messages (reminders and notices) are sent to the number you registered. You may stop using this channel at any time.

Where data is stored and security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure. The databases run on servers in Brazil, while files (audio, photos, and exports) and part of the processing may run on servers in the United States or other countries. Some processors (for example, AI providers) may also process data abroad. We use encryption in transit, access controls, and security rules to protect your information. No system is 100% foolproof, but we take the protection of your memories seriously.

International transfers. Because the controller is in the United States and part of the data is processed outside Brazil, we carry out international transfers with the safeguards required by the LGPD, including the standard contractual clauses approved by the ANPD where applicable.

Retention and account deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can request account deletion directly in the app. Upon confirmation, we begin removing your stories, audio, photos, and exports, erase your personal information, and delete your authentication account. You may also choose to preserve the stories for your family at the time of deletion. Some minimal records may be retained where required by law.

Your rights

Under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD — Law No. 13,709/2018), you may, at any time: confirm the existence of processing; access your data; correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data; request anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary data or data processed in non-compliance; request portability; obtain information about whom we share your data with; and withdraw consent. You may also petition the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD). To exercise any right, write to contato@relembrando.com.

United States residents

If you reside in the United States, depending on your state (for example, California, under the CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what data we collect, to access, delete, and correct your data, and to opt out of having your data "sold" or "shared." We do not sell or share your personal data for advertising. To exercise these rights, write to contato@relembrando.com.

Children and teenagers

Relembrando is not intended for anyone under 18 without the consent and supervision of a responsible adult. Stories of elderly relatives or other people should be recorded with their knowledge and agreement.

Cookies and measurement

On this website we use basic audience measurement to understand page usage. In the app, we use Firebase tools (analytics, performance, and error reporting) to keep the service running well.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When there are material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, if necessary, notify you through the service's channels.
